Work That Lasts
We install it so you don't have to think about it again. Code is the floor, not the goal.
About Metroplex
Solid work. Honest service. Relationships that last. That's been the whole plan since 1973, and it still is.

Our story
Metroplex started in 1973, when Al Johnson left McBride Electric in Wichita and incorporated Metroplex Electric in Oklahoma. The plan was plain: residential and light commercial work, done right, for people who would call again.
In 1993 an apprentice named Jim Carson came on. He learned the trade in the field, moved into dispatch, then into leadership, and eventually became an owner. He still runs the company today.
In 2023 his sons Cody and Austin joined him in ownership. That's three generations in one shop on Broadway Extension, with a crew that mostly stays for decades.
Adding heating and air was the natural next step. We already handle the power side of every home we walk into. Now licensed, trained HVAC technicians work beside our electricians, so the crew that wires your panel can also install and service the system that runs off it.
Timeline
Half a century is long enough to wire the same house twice. Here's how we got from Al Johnson's new shop to the crew in the photo above.

Al Johnson, after years with McBride Electric in Wichita, incorporates Metroplex Electric in Oklahoma. The focus from day one is residential and light commercial work.
Jim Carson joins as an apprentice electrician. He learns the trade in the field, moves into dispatch, then leadership, and becomes an owner.
Metroplex joins the citywide response to the Oklahoma City bombing, providing support, service and skilled labor where it was needed.
John Ritz marks 40 years with the company. A crew that stays this long is the reason the work looks the same from one decade to the next.
Cody and Austin Carson join ownership alongside Jim Carson. The third generation starts, at the same address on Broadway Extension.
Heating and air conditioning are added. Licensed, trained HVAC technicians now work beside the electricians who already handle the power side of every home.
What we stand for
Our mission is simple: deliver work that lasts, service you can trust, and relationships built on respect and honesty. These are the values that make it happen.
We install it so you don't have to think about it again. Code is the floor, not the goal.
A written estimate before work starts, a straight answer when repair doesn't make sense.
Most of our calls come from people who've used us before, or the people they told.
A clean panel, a labeled circuit, a swept floor. The small things are how you tell.
Licensed, insured, affiliated
Ask any contractor for these three things before they touch your panel. We'd rather you ask than assume.
License #96161. Every job is permitted where required, inspected, and built to meet or exceed the National Electrical Code.
#96161General liability and workers' compensation coverage on every technician and every job site. If something goes wrong, it's on us, not you.
Liability + WCMember of the National Electrical Contractors Association, which keeps our crew current on code changes, safety standards and training.
NECA
The crew
Most of our electricians have been here for years. Some for most of their working lives. John Ritz marked 40 years with Metroplex in 2018, and he's not the only long-timer on the roster.
That matters on your job. The person in your attic has seen more Oklahoma houses like yours than he can count and knows what's behind the drywall before the first cut. The office knows your street.
Every technician, electrical or HVAC, is trained, background-checked and carries the required state and local certifications. New hires learn the Metroplex way from people who've been doing it for decades.
